DID YOU HAVE A TELEVISION WHEN YOU WERE GROWING UP? WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PROGRAM? WHY?
When I was in Jr High I enjoyed being in assemblies and plays. One year I was in the traveling assembly each Jr high Richfield, South Sevier. I don't remember if North Sevier was in the loop or not but each school would visit all other Jr Highs in the school district I remember being in one in which I sang "Oh my PaPa." I loved that song because I felt like I was singing about my grandpa DeLange who I loved so much. He took me fishing so many times and taught me how to fish. He like Monroe Mountain and knew of lots of beaver ponds with lots of fish. I still haven't been able to find some of those places. He also liked to fish Ottercreek Res. He was such a great grandpapa and it broke my heart when he died in 1952.
We didn't have TV when I was young Ray and Wallice Burr lived in the house Jimmy Bagley lives in today and that was the only place in the valley you could get TV. They had an old black and white TV and sometimes we would go down and ask if we could come in and watch TV. Can you imagine. Mostly, it was boxing matches. The picture was black and white and not very clear. I think I only did that a time or two. We were really into boxing and followed boxers especially Gene Fulmer of West Jordan. Once dad took Ross and I to West Jordan for a title fight between Gene Fulmer and Jersey Jo for the middle weight championship. Gene won.
