"A Father's Legacy"

WHEN YOU WERE GROWING UP, DID YOU HAVE ANY ANIMALS?  WHAT WERE THEIR NAMES?  WAS IT IMPORTANT TO YOU TO HAVE A PET?
When I was about 14 dad gave me a calf that was sickly and told me I could do what I wanted to with it and took care of it and when it got bigger it developed a big pusey soar on it's side.  We decided that was what was making it sick.  Uncle Merral was a vet so I had him look at it when he was down he lanced it and drained it then he put a cotton swab on a stick and dipped it in iodine and stuck it in the hole and swabbed around in it.  The calf got better and I got a calf from her.  I sold both of them and spent the money on what I don't know.  Uncle Merral had someone drop off a dog once and they never came back for him he was a boxer we named him candy he was so strong I could hardly hold him when he wanted to go chase a car or cat.  i don't know whatever happened to him.  We had rabbits and all the other farm animals.
