Dad's Autobiography

I just ran onto this as I was doing some work on the computer. I did not make any corrections on the end of this. It is how Dad typed it.

I did not know he had written the last part. Made me shed a tear.

Dad has written alot about him self in the little book he has been filling out. I will try to get more of it filled out if he can remember.

Love Ya, Mom

Dahl LeRue Brown

Dahl LeRue Brown a great grandson of Edward Alma Bagley was born to LeRue and LeNea DeLange Brown on October 17th, 1940. He was raised in Koosharem. Growing up in Koosharem was an adventure. There was always something to do be it chores around the farm, fishing in the creek below the town, or hiking in the hills above town hunting for arrow heads. My best friends as I grew up were: Gaylen Schougard, Lanny Anderson and was baptized on May 1, 1949 in Richfield before the church was built in Koosharem. Dahl attended school in Koosharem K through 10th grades. He then attended Richfield High School his junior and Senior years graduating in 1958. After high school Dahl attended Snow College for a short time before quitting to join the U.S. Air Force in April of 1959. Dahl was sent to Lack land AF base in San Antonio Texas for basic training and was then sent to Keesler AF base in Biloxi Mississippi for training as a Morse Intercept operator. After completing Morse Intercept operator school he was sent to Elmendorf AF base in Anchorage, Alaska. Dahl’s job there was to copy encrypted messages Intercepted from Russia informed us what their Air Force was doing and what their jets were capable of doing. Dahl served there for two years before returning to the states where he was stationed at Malmstrom AF base in Great Falls, Montana. There he was responsible for keeping all the maintenance manuals updated for all the Minute Man missiles located around Great Falls area. After a year at Malmstrom he was honorably discharged in April of l963.

As soon as Dahl got home Bishop Garth Bagley called him in and asked him to go on a mission. He agreed and was called to serve in the New Zealand South mission for two years.

After his mission he attended the College of Southern Utah and graduated with a degree in education. While at CSU He attended a wedding reception for a friend in Tropic, Utah. While there he met and fell in love with his eternal companion Elaine Munson. They were married in December 29th, 1967 and were blessed with 4 great children, Dennis Wayne, Warren Mark, Lisa Elaine & Jennifer Brown.

After graduating he enrolled in the BYU graduate program which he eventually received his Masters of Education Degree. Dahl got his first job teaching in Heber City and taught there for seven years before getting a job at Salina Elementary. Dahl recently retired after 32 years of teaching Special Education. Dahl was a very effective teacher and loved it and although retirement is great he misses the association with the students and other teachers.

In May of 2005 Dahl was working at the Youth Detention Center in Richfield as a teacher when he started noticing unusual things happening to him such as unusual smells. Sounds in his ears, and headaches every morning. He went to the Doctor for a checkup and mentioned these things to Dr. Christensen who then had him go in for an MRI which reviled brain cancer. Dahl was subsequently operated on and given radiation treatments every day for three months. The Lord blessed him and he came out of them totally clean for which he thanked the Lord every day. As I set here writing this I am waiting for Elaine to come home from school and then we will go to Provo where I will be evaluated at 5:30 in the morning to find out if the cancer has returned, and possibly be operated on again

Life has been great even though there have been some ups and downs but we thank the Lord every day for the experience we are blessed to have. There is no experience in life that can equal the blessing of grand children and I have been blessed with twelve of the cutest. Like my grandpa brown always said I have a lot of grand kids and not an ugly one among them all..
