DID YOU ADMIRE A FAMOUS PERSON? WHAT MADE THAT PERSON ADMIRABLE?
The Prophet Joseph Smith- as a young man he had so many experiences that would stagger the mind and scare most young 14 year olds. Yet he held true to the responsibilities given to him even when the going got tough he brought forth the Book of Mormon which contains the fullness of the gospel. he was persecuted and harassed but endured it well. He was a great man. He walked in the footsteps of Jesus and I'm sure he dwells with Him now.
My Grandfather Joseph DeLange. He died when I was 12 but so many things I remember about him. He would take us on his knee and bounce us up and down and sing silly songs that made us laugh. He had lots of stories he would entertain us with. He had the prettiest flower beds and yards. there was a grove of trees on the town square just over the canal from the town hall he watered and took care of these trees. We had many community activities there 4th of July programs etc. After he died no one stepped up to do the job he had done and the trees soon died out. Grandpa owned the Grass Valley Merc. the only store in town that thrived. It was a place for people to gather and visit. They would set on the pop and ice cream coolers and Jaw all day. Grandpa would let people buy on credit. He had a box with 3x5 cards in alphabetized when times were hard people would get what they needed and he would write it down. Mom said that during the depression he knew he would never get paid so he took the box to the dump and threw it in. Thousands of dollars of IOU.
