"A Father's Legacy"

WHAT CHORES DID YOU  HAVE TO DO WHEN YOU WERE GROWING UP?  DID YOU GET AND ALLOWANCE?  HOW MUCH WAS IT?
We raised laying chickens and milk cows.  I got to feed both and milk the cows and gather eggs.  No Allowance.  We sometimes got 203 eggs that we could take to the store and get 3 cents or 4 cents a piece.  We would as for the penny candy tray that had a big variety of candies we could pick from or if we had enough we'd get a 5 cent candy bar.  My favorite was a cowboy bar mostly coconut and caramel.  Sometimes we had enough to buy a pop or ice cream when they had green pineapple I would get that.  We seldom had more than a dime so we never got both.  I remember one time I went to Richfield with Dad for something probably the dentist that is about the only thing I ever went there for.  Dad gave me $1.00 and said see if you can spend this while I go in the pool hall.  we were parked behind Marks ice cream shop so I went in and bought 10 scoops of licorice ice cream.  I ate them all and got so sick it was a long time before I could eat licorice again.
